20TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY
20th Year Celebration
On Friday evening, October 2, 2009, Zoe Christian Fellowship of Whittier celebrated its 20th Anniversary at the Long Beach Marriott. Over 375 members and friends attended the event that included a delicious meal, recognition awards to charter members and special awards to Pastor Dorothy Evans, Dr. Jean Perez and Minister Lovie Hicks who all encouraged Pastor Ed & First Lady Vanessa in their prayer ministry.
Pastor Jerry Jones, Apostle Fredrick & Dr. Betty Price and Bishop Frank & First Lady Charlene Steward received special recognition awards for their discipleship to Pastor Ed & First Lady Vanessa. Pastor Ed presented First Lady a special award for her love, encouragement and support during the past 20 years in ministry. The Executive Board, Elders & Deacons honored Pastor & First Lady and presented them with gifts. We concluded the celebration with special music from Veretta Heidelberg and an awesome concert from Ray Sidney & Firm Soundation. We truly have Come This Far by Faith.

Church History
The word Zoe is a Greek word meaning "the God kind of life". Zoe is the life that Jesus came for us to have according to St. John 10:10. It is this kind of life we will experience when we learn to live on Earth by the principles of Gods Kingdom... Gods way of doing things.
Through sound biblical teaching, discipleship, ministry outreach, and global missions, we are building, strengthening, and equipping individuals to grow, and mature in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and in fulfilling Gods kingdom purpose in the Earth. It is Gods desire that each family leaves a legacy of following Christ. Here at Zoe Christian Fellowship, we purpose to live our lives according to the divine will of God.
Zoe History Nuggets
Pastor Ed Smith launched Zoe Christian Fellowship in Cerritos, California with a community outreach on Saturday, January 7, 1989. Seventy-Eight people received Christ as Savior.
Zoes first Sunday service was held at Cerritos High School on January 8, 1989. One hundred and six (106) people attended. Three people received Christ, three people were filled with the Holy Spirit, and six people joined the church.
Our first Vacation Bible School and Youth Bible Boot Camp was held on July 27-31, 1992. A total of 33 children received Christ and 44 were filled with the Holy Spirit. Total attendance was 398 with 167 of the kids were visitors.
On Sunday, April 4, 1993, the 1,500th person received Christ as savior through our ministry.
Sunday, May 2, 1993, Zoe expanded to a second Sunday service. The services were held at 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM. That same day we held an outreach at Chino prison and 23 people received Christ as Savior.
During our very first year, as a church in 1989, a total of 142 received Christ, 33 rededicated their lives to Christ, 79 were filled with the Holy Spirit, 386 people visited the church and 128 made Zoe their church home.
