CHURCH HISTORY
Zoe Christian Fellowship was founded by Bishop Frank L. Stewart in 1984. In 1988, God spoke to then Elder Ed Smith, and gave him a vision to pastor a church. This church would partner in ministry with Zoe Christian Fellowship Los Angeles, and eventually become a part of the Association of Zoe Christian Fellowship Ministries International. He responded to the call, and began teaching Bible Study in his home with 15 people. On January 8, 1989, Zoe Christian Fellowship of Cerritos held its first service at Cerritos High School. As a result of church growth, the need for a permanent home became clear. In 1995, the church relocated to a 4.5 acre church campus in Whittier, California. On July 7, 1995, Zoe Chrisitan Fellowship of Whittier was born. Since that time, the church has grown to over 3000 members from all nationalities and walks of life.
The word Zoe is a Greek word meaning "the God kind of life". Zoe is the life that Jesus came for us to have according to St. John 10:10. It is this kind of life we will experience when we learn to live on Earth by the principles of God’s Kingdom... God’s way of doing things.
Through sound biblical teaching, discipleship, ministry outreach, and global missions, we are building, strengthening, and equipping individuals to grow, and mature in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and in fulfilling God’s kingdom purpose in the Earth. It is God’s desire that each family leaves a legacy of following Christ. Here at Zoe Christian Fellowship, we purpose to live our lives according to the divine will of God.
As a result of provocative, Bible-based teaching, and activities designed to minister to the whole person, people are drawn to our church, where they experience life change. |
